My career at De Horecabond began on 1 September 1987. As a deputy union representative, I was tasked with establishing an independent district in South-East Brabant and Limburg. I started in an attic room in Eindhoven, where I worked alongside my wife. She assisted with the administration, while I focused on advocating for the interests of members, providing information at schools, and building a strong association structure. It was a challenge, but it was especially rewarding to see how the small district grew.
From 1989 to 2005, I was a regional union representative and witnessed how our region grew to become the third largest within the union. We achieved this by always working together as a team in a progressive and expert manner. We listened to our members and worked on improving working conditions in the region. That collaboration has always stayed with me. Alone you can go far, but together you can go further.
Since 2005, I have been a union representative for De Horecabond in the recreation sector. In the recreation sector, people work with great pleasure, but it's also important to consider your future. We help you with this. We provide you with the Insights and experiences that make you more confident. We do this by connecting our members, sharing Insights, and raising awareness of the impact your work has on your life.
What really makes my work special is that I can help people grow. Together, we ensure improvements in the sector. Members play an important role in this. You make the difference! By bringing your ideas into our discussions with employers, we ensure a better future for everyone in the sector.
