What does membership with De Horecabond entail?
Membership with De Horecabond is primarily intended to ensure strong hospitality sectors together with other parties. For example, the hospitality CLA is agreed upon by Koninklijke hospitality Nederland with the unions De Horecabond and CNV Vakmensen. This CLA serves as a mandatory employment agreement for both the employer and the employee.

What are the costs of a membership with De Horecabond?
The monthly membership costs vary per membership. With both the Basic and the Secure membership, you receive a discount for the first four months. After that, the contribution is a standard monthly amount. If you are 21 years or younger, work part-time, receive social benefits, or are a student, you receive a discount on your membership. To reduce costs, it is possible to reclaim part of your paid contribution annually through your employer. This can amount to up to 40% of the annual amount paid. Your employer will need proof of union contribution, which you can download from your personal account page of De Horecabond.
Are you self-employed? Then you can declare the membership costs as professional expenses in your income tax return.
Cancelling membership
The membership of De Horecabond can be cancelled monthly. Before you cancel, it is good to know that you can receive a 50% discount on your contribution. This applies if you work fewer hours, have become (temporarily) unemployed, or are retiring. Let us know, and we will adjust your contribution, or we can discuss together if another membership Membership suits you better.

What does it cost to become a member of De Horecabond?
At De Horecabond, you can choose from different memberships: Basic Membership, Complete Membership, and Student membership. The costs for these are a maximum of €19.50, with the exact amount depending on your Updates situation. If you are a student in hospitality, the first year is free. Additionally, each year you can reclaim a portion of your contribution through your employer. This can amount to up to 40% of the amount you pay annually!
Why join a trade union?
As a member of a union, you benefit from many advantages. As a member of De Horecabond, for example, you are involved in the CLA process. With input from our members, we go to the CLA negotiations and represent your interests. Additionally, you receive personal career advice and possible legal assistance, among other things.
Does it matter which union you join?
The choice of a union is entirely free. However, it is a good idea to choose a union that focuses on the sector in which you work. For example, you can join De Horecabond with FNV if you work in the hospitality industry.

You can easily sign up with a union via a registration form. Become a member of De Horecabond, fill in the form and from that moment you are a member of De Horecabond.

Is a membership with a union tax-deductible?
Every year, it is possible to claim back part of your contribution through your employer. At De Horecabond, you can download a form for this via your account. Make sure you inform your employer before the last salary payment of the year. Then the contribution refund can still be settled for that year. And you can get up to €88 back per year.
What are the rules for membership?
- You have become a member of De Horecabond for an indefinite period.
- You have a 14-day cooling-off period.
- You can cancel your membership monthly.
- The contribution is debited from your account monthly.
- Are you a student in hospitality? Then you pay no contribution for the first year. After the first year, the contribution (50% of the normal contribution) is automatically debited from your account.
- Do you work 20 hours or less or have you become unemployed? Then you receive a 50% discount on your membership*! Contact our Membership Administration.
- Are you 21 years or younger, then you receive a 50% discount on your membership*!
- Are you 21 or younger and work 20 hours or less and have chosen the Basic Membership? Then you only pay €2.50 per month.
- If you have a problem that arose before the membership, unfortunately, we cannot help you.
- With the Complete Membership, during the first six months of membership, you are only entitled to (written) help and support in legal disputes and support in objection procedures and legal proceedings, after you have committed to remain a member for at least two years from the start of the membership and you have paid the amount equivalent to two years' contribution in advance.
- After the first six months, you are entitled to free help and support.
