"The hospitality industry should once again become a profession where you want to (continue to) work"
Marlotte Ferouge, union representative hospitality
Before Marlotte became a union representative, she worked for many years as a legal advisor for the union representatives of De Horecabond. She finds advocating for the rights and interests of employees not only enjoyable but, above all, very important to do.
"Proper compliance with the CLA and legislation is particularly essential in the hospitality industry. Unfortunately, this is not yet the norm. The sector faces many challenges: a significant staff shortage, high turnover, a part-time job image, and there is still much to be gained in terms of employment conditions and strengthening the position of employees and the union. I want to commit to better employment conditions and a healthy work-life balance. Hospitality should once again be a profession where you want to (continue to) work. A profession where people receive the necessary appreciation and recognition they deserve.
I love the hospitality industry, enjoy visiting it, and know many people who work in this wonderful sector. That's why I have a tremendous drive to improve the working conditions in hospitality. The employees deserve it, because without them, there is no hospitality!"
