Requesting and taking annual leave

31-05-2013

As an employee, you determine the start and end times of your holiday (days) in consultation with your employer. An employer cannot impose on you which days you must take as holiday. We recommend requesting your holiday in writing and in good time from your employer. Timely requests are especially important during the summer period or peak season. During this period, often multiple employees want to go on holiday at the same time. This is usually not possible. If your employer has not responded in writing to your request within two weeks, the holiday is confirmed according to your wishes.

In hospitality, you are entitled to 3 weeks of consecutive holiday. This can be limited to 2 weeks if the work necessitates it. In that case, you are entitled to another week of consecutive holiday.

You can agree with your employer that you cannot go on holiday during a certain period. The employer can hold you to this. After all, you have signed the employment contract.
