Today, Tuesday 5 March, negotiations were supposed to take place for the 5th time for a new CLA in the catering industry.
FNV Catering has informed employers that if Part A of the CLA is maintained for now and in the future, and the employee retains the choice to switch to Part B, further discussions can take place under these conditions about an adjusted salary demand.
Unfortunately, we have had to conclude that the parties are still miles apart when it comes to maintaining Part A and agreeing on salary increases for the entire CLA. FNV Catering believes that employers are not sufficiently considering the unions' demands regarding the retention of Part A. This leads to further delays in the negotiations each time, resulting in an impasse.
The latest response from employers to our proposals did not provide enough confidence to proceed with the negotiation on 5 March. Employers and unions have therefore decided to cancel the meeting on 5 March.
On Monday 11 March, we will discuss the situation with our CLA committee to determine what actions and/or steps are necessary to achieve a decent CLA. This includes retaining Part A and the option for employees to switch to Part B, as well as an acceptable salary increase for all employees in the catering sector.
It is not yet known when further negotiations will take place.
What about Inflight?
For the inflight part of the CLA catering, the 4th round of negotiations will proceed on Thursday 7 March. Here, the focus is on agreements about the salary structure and salary increases from 1 April 2024. If we are unable to reach agreements here as well, an impasse may also occur in this area.
