The negotiation result for a new CLA catering/hospitality has been accepted by a majority of the members (77%) and non-members (70%). The employer organisations Veneca and VOCC have also agreed, and thus the new CLA will be effective from 1 April 2024.

Harry de Wit, union representative FNV Catering: “Of course, we are pleased with the majority support for the new CLA. However, we are aware of the criticism that has been raised about the negotiation result. We take these concerns seriously. Our goal has always been to find a balance between the interests of all parties. However, the result of these negotiations is the maximum that was achievable within the set frameworks.”

Different components in CLA

The CLA includes components for different groups: part A, part B, and Inflight. With the new CLA, we aim for as equal a Membership as possible for everyone. It is also important to consider the different circumstances. Part A remains and there is still freedom of choice for part A and part B. This choice has been simplified:

  • you are guaranteed not to lose out when you switch to part B
  • there are new solutions to be able to schedule whole days off
  • you can choose between the generation pact and senior days
  • you receive the highest tax-free travel allowance when you switch to part B.

Salary increase

Agreeing on a significant increase was important. The agreed increases have never been so high. This is understandable given the high inflation. In the new agreements, the increases for colleagues in the lowest salary scales are slightly higher than for those in the highest salary scales.

  • For contract catering, there is a salary increase of between 8-12% from 1 April 2024. Additionally, from 1 January 2025, every employee (part A and B) will receive the same salary increase(s) as applicable according to the CLA hospitality.
In the new salary scales contract catering & hospitality you can see what this means for you.
  • For inflight, the scale amounts and actual salaries will be increased by €275 plus 2.5% from 1 April 2024. This means a total salary increase of between 9.04% and 15.6%. And from 1 January 2025, the scale amounts and actual salaries will be increased by €100 plus 1%. In total, compared to your salary at the end of 2023, you will have an increase by 1 January 2025 of a total over two payment moments of +€375 and additionally in percentages together 3.5%. This means a total salary increase of between 12.47% and 21.49%.
In the new salary scales inflight you can see what this means for you.

More improvements

Additionally, the travel allowance has been improved. This is also necessary given the petrol prices. Especially now that the labour market is tight and it is important to make the sector even more attractive, agreements have been made focusing on young people. The internship allowance has been increased to €350 and the youth scales are now 10% higher than those in hospitality. Agreements have also been made for a better work-life balance. Many employees have caregiving responsibilities, where it is important to be able to fulfil these as well as possible.
