During an informal meeting of the Supervisory Board on the occasion of his retirement as an active member, De Horecabond appointed Dirk Breedveld as an honorary member.
Dirk Breedveld was actively involved for eighteen years in a committed and expert manner. His contribution was characterised by his sharp analytical insight, constructive attitude, and genuine involvement. He knew better than anyone what it means to stand up for employees in hospitality. Edwin Vlek, chairman of De Horecabond, said: “The honorary membership is not a farewell gift, but recognition for who Dirk is, what he has done, and what he has meant to our union. We will miss his Insights and experience, his considered input in meetings, and his ability to provide guidance with nuance and calm. His contribution remains of lasting value to the direction and culture of our union."
According to Vlek, Dirk is also someone who consistently clarifies what the sector is all about: “He repeatedly showed us that hospitality is not a trick, but an attitude. Dirk is an example in this for many, both within and outside our organisation.”
