The VAT increase on overnight stays affects everyone.
The consequences of increasing VAT from 9% to 21% extend far beyond hotels, campsites, B&Bs, and holiday parks. Fewer overnight stays also mean:
- fewer expenditures in shops, museums, and attractions
- fewer visitors at festivals and events
- less work in cleaning and transport
- less income for municipalities
Significant consequences, with thousands of jobs lost. And extra tax revenue? That remains absent?
Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on the motion to reverse the increase. On the same day, Koninklijke hospitality Nederland (KHN) will present a joint letter in The Hague, co-signed by sectors that are also affected. De Horecabond has also signed this letter.
Our call to the politicians: support the motion! Read more information on the website of KHN.
