With a record number of members, we gathered on 1 June in Madurodam for our annual Members’ Meeting led by day chair Niels Houtepen. A day full of discussions, new insights, and important decisions about the future of our association.
We began the day with a look back at 2025. A remarkable year in which De Horecabond further grew to over 24,000 members, reached millions of people, and assisted more than 13,000 workers with advice and support. We also recorded a profit for the first time in fifteen years. A result we can all be proud of. During the meeting, the members approved the 2025 financial statements and granted the board discharge for the policy pursued. In doing so, they expressed their confidence in the direction the association has taken.
Building the future together
The focus then shifted forward. The world of work is changing rapidly. Boundaries between hospitality, recreation, catering, wellness, and personal care are increasingly blurring. This requires a union that adapts accordingly. Therefore, the members agreed with the proposed direction to join forces with FNV MOOI. A step not aimed at becoming bigger, but at becoming stronger for members. With more clout, more influence, and the retention of recognisable sectors.
Inspiration, meeting and new ideas
In addition to the association matters, there was plenty of opportunity to meet each other. During the lunch and the concluding drinks, members, active members and colleagues engaged in conversations about the challenges and opportunities in our sectors.
Participants also attended two workshops. Jeroen Krouwels provided an inspiring insight into the impact of AI on hospitality, and members could join a tour of Madurodam. A great way to gain new insights and exchange experiences.
We look back on a successful Members’ Meeting. Thanks to the involvement of our members, we continue to build a strong association that looks ahead. Together we ensure that working in hospitality remains rewarding.
