Ron started as a sous-chef on 1 January 2020. The CLA hospitality applies to his employment contract. When he noticed that he hadn't received a pay rise for four years, he began to doubt his salary. He did a salary check with De Horecabond. It turned out that he was underpaid.
What did De Horecabond do?
Ron contacted De Horecabond after discovering through our salary check that he was being underpaid. He had done this salary check because he hadn't received a pay rise for four years. Since Ron is a member, he could rely on legal help and support.
One of our lawyers reviewed his situation and asked him to send in his payslips. Based on that, the lawyer made a calculation. It turned out that the employer had overlooked a pay rise. We applied this pay rise retrospectively and calculated what Ron was entitled to. This amounted to a back payment of €709.50 gross.
In consultation with the lawyer, Ron spoke to his employer himself. He showed the calculation, after which the employer acknowledged the mistake. The amount was paid with the next salary payment, and his salary was adjusted immediately.
