Am I entitled to a performance bonus?

11-02-2025

From 1 January 2025, an important change has been implemented in the CLA hospitality. Until now, you were entitled to an annual periodic increase of 2%. From 2025, this has been replaced by a performance-based pay. This means that your salary increase depends on your performance.

The CLA provides a guideline of 2% for this performance-based pay, which is equivalent to the previous periodic increase. Your employer has the option to deviate from this. This offers employers more flexibility in the remuneration policy, but it is important that this is done in a fair manner.

What does this mean for you?

Conditions:

  • If you are a fully qualified professional and your actual salary on 31 December is at the basic salary or between the basic and final salary, then from 1 January of the following calendar year you are entitled to a performance bonus of 2%. This means that your actual salary increases by 2% up to a maximum of the final salary.
  • You must have been employed for at least a full calendar year as a professional in the same company role, with the same employer, by 1 January.
  • You are not entitled to the annual performance bonus if you have performed moderately or insufficiently for two consecutive years based on the assessment*.

Exceptions:

  • Your employer may deviate from the 2% guideline, but this must be done in consultation with the works council (OR) or staff representation. And it must be communicated to all employees.

Which job grade are you in?

It's important to know which job grade you are in. This determines your salary and whether you are entitled to increases. Check this with your employer and remind them of the agreements in the CLA.
