From 1 January 2025, an important change has been implemented in the CLA hospitality. Until now, you were entitled to an annual periodic increase of 2%. From 2025, this has been replaced by a performance-related pay. This means that your salary increase depends on your performance.
The CLA provides a guideline of 2% for this performance-related pay, which is equivalent to the previous periodic increase. Your employer has the option to deviate from this. This offers employers more flexibility in the remuneration policy, but it is important that this is done in a fair manner.
What does this mean for you?
Conditions:
- If you are a fully skilled professional and your actual salary on 31 December is at the basic salary or between the basic and final salary, then from 1 January of the following calendar year, you are entitled to a performance bonus of 2%. This means your actual salary increases by 2% up to a maximum of the final salary.
- You must have been employed for at least a full calendar year as a skilled professional in the same job role, with the same employer, by 1 January.
- You are not entitled to the annual performance bonus if you have performed poorly or inadequately for two consecutive years based on the assessment*.
Exceptions:
- Your employer may deviate from the 2% guideline, but this must be done in consultation with the works council (OR) or staff representation. It must also be communicated to all employees.
Check if your performance bonus is correct. Not sure if you've received the right increase? Do the salary check.
*Your employer will need to demonstrate that your performance is moderate or insufficient. Based on the CLA, your employer is required to hold a performance review with you at least once a year, during which your performance is discussed. If performance is moderate or insufficient, your employer is obliged to create an action plan focused on improvements, so that the next evaluation is expected to be satisfactory. If no performance reviews are held and you meet the other conditions, you would normally still be entitled to the 2% performance bonus. Are you unsure if your employer is following the rules? Which job grade are you in?
It’s important to know which job grade you are in. This determines your salary and whether you are entitled to increases. Check this with your employer and remind them of the agreements in the CLA.
