Updated Handbook of Reference Functions in Hospitality

10-01-2025

In the CLA hospitality 2024, it was agreed that CLA parties would evaluate, update, and simplify the pay and job structure. The aim is to introduce a new pay and job structure by 1 January 2025. Existing reference jobs have now been updated and new roles have been added.

Reference jobs help your employer to describe a company role and assign you correctly. A correct assignment is important. Because if you know which reference job you are in, you can check what you should be earning at a minimum based on the CLA.

The new reference jobs can be found in the updated Reference Handbook Hospitality. A new website has been developed where you can find the handbook: referentiefunctieshoreca.nl. Not sure which reference job best matches your tasks and duties? The search function and a handy step-by-step guide on the website will assist you with this.

What does the introduction of a new job structure mean for me?

The new reference jobs have remained almost the same in terms of classification. Should anything change for you, we have made an agreement in the new CLA hospitality 2025/2026 that if you are classified in a lower job grade, you will retain your classification in your original (higher) job grade. At least as long as you have the same role or until the end date of your employment contract. Your salary and prospects will therefore remain the same.

With the introduction of the new job structure, a job classification appeals procedure has also been introduced. If you and your employer disagree about the classification of your job, you can submit it to this external committee.

If you have questions about your classification or receive a proposal for changes, please contact us!
