Robotic arms play an important role at the cocktail and wine bar of Mr. Mofongo in Groningen. However, owner Patrick Beijk emphasises, they will never replace the staff. A glimpse into the kitchen of an establishment that is as progressive as it is atmospheric. “The robotic arms ensure that the work becomes more pleasant for the staff.”
It is an early afternoon in the wine bar of Mr. Mofongo in Groningen, as a robotic arm extends into the venue. Just before, owner Patrick Beijk promised a visitor to select a wine for him. And now the mechanical limb finds its way in the ‘glass wine cellar’. A little later, a perfect glass of wine is on the table, chilled and served precisely by two robotic arms. An Italian pinot grigio, the description on the glass floor reveals. “Amazing, isn’t it?”, says Patrick. “You wouldn’t believe how many people come here daily to see these kinds of innovations. That says something about how special they are.”
