Due to the pension agreement, the state pension age will remain at 66 years and 4 months in 2020 and 2021. After that, the state pension age will increase more slowly. As a result of these agreements, your state pension will commence earlier than before. Additionally, there are general agreements made to allow stopping work up to 3 years earlier than the state pension age, for example, if you have a physically demanding job.
There are also agreements for a new pension contract. Consequently, pension funds are required to hold fewer reserves. They can then increase (Updates) pensions more quickly, and the likelihood of having to reduce pensions is smaller. However, no one can guarantee that pensions will not be lowered!
What happens next?
Working out all the agreements will take some time. The foundation of the house is there, and part of the walls are up. Now we need to further build and furnish the house, so that everyone knows until when they must work and when they can stop working earlier.
It has been agreed that there will be a steering group with associated working groups to further develop the various topics. Employers, unions, and the government are represented in this. Within the FNV, we have set up focus groups to tackle the following topics:
- Focus Group Physically Demanding Jobs
Everything related to the general agreements in the accord concerning early retirement is addressed in this focus group. How can agreements be made per sector? Who will it apply to? What happens after the transitional arrangement, and what is actually meant by the possibility of stopping after 45 years of work? - Focus Group Gaps and Self-employed
The agreement talks about an old-age pension for everyone, but not everyone is building up a pension yet, especially not from the first day of work. And how is the agreement that a pension provision must also be made for the self-employed being handled? - Focus Group Arrangements
What should the new contract look like? What are the consequences of the agreement for indexation, but also for reductions, and how do we mitigate the disadvantages of abolishing the average premium?
As you can see, there is still a lot to be worked out. This will take a long time. And we're not talking about a few months, but a much longer period. De Horecabond is represented in every focus group to participate and contribute ideas.
