New CLA hospitality is a fact!

14-11-2024

Now that the CLA negotiations and voting are behind us, I look back on an intensive but enjoyable and challenging period in which there was excellent and pleasant collaboration within our negotiation delegation, CLA committee, and also with the other CLA parties KHN and CNV.

While the CLA process only becomes visible to you at the start of the collection phase, such as the survey and the sending of the proposal letter, we have been working behind the scenes for months. We started this at the end of March. It was a joint effort, not only by the negotiators of De Horecabond, but also by a strong team of colleagues and involved members!

With the agreements in this new CLA, we improve the working conditions in hospitality and ensure that experience continues to pay off. By balancing the salary structure and lowering the professional age to 20 years, we have made significant progress. The agreements on work-life balance and loyalty leave also represent a substantial advancement for both the sector and the employees. Together, we ensure that hospitality becomes an attractive profession to (continue to) work in.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this CLA process in any way. Because without your input and cooperation, there would be no CLA!

With this new CLA, we are making a clear step in the right direction. Attention has been paid to improvements that make working in hospitality not only more attractive but also fairer. Consider improvements in the salary structure, agreements on work-life balance, and conditions that ensure experience is rewarded again.

This step was much needed, and thanks to your collective efforts, we can speak of real progress for the sector. However, this is just the beginning – there is still work to be done to make hospitality truly future-proof.

A CLA can be excellent on paper, but it is only truly valuable if everyone working in hospitality is also aware of what it contains. What are your rights? Which conditions are important to you? By having this Insights, you can ensure you get what you are entitled to and make the CLA concrete and applicable for yourself.

It is important to engage in conversations with your colleagues about the agreements that have been made. An informed person counts for two, and as a team, we are stronger. The more people in hospitality are aware of their rights and obligations, the better we can work together towards a future-proof sector where working pays off.

Thanks to everyone who made their voice heard, who contributed ideas, and who committed to this process. Together, we have taken an important step, and by sharing our Insights, we make an even greater impact.
